Installing System 7.5.3 Revision 2. Before you install System 7.5.3 Revision 2, your computer should have System 7.5.3 installed or System 7.5.2, PowerBook Enabler 1.2 or later installed. Mac OS 7.5.3L is a version of Mac OS 7.5.3 designed for a few Macintosh clones produced in early 1996, such as those from Power Computing, UMAX,and Daystar. The actual Mac OS content was virtually identical to the Macintosh 7.5.3 version, but the clones bundled extra software and extensions to support their non-Apple hard disks, CD-ROM drives, monitors and other peripherals. With these goals, this implementation is roughly the same LOC as em(4), and requires minimal changes to the networking stack. The code has already had a few eyes on it, but further scrutiny is always appreciated, especially with regards to OpenBSD networking stack particulars. I see this as a perfect complement to OpenBSD's cryptographic tools. MacOS 8.1 is not recommendable on any Mac with less than 32MB of RAM, and 64 is really preferable. Users have reported good speed with MacOS 8.1 on even 68030 Macs that have enough RAM. Gamba has a great webpage to help users get 8.1 up to speed on their 68030 (unsupported) Macs, and users who can't find a boxed copy but are HOT to download it.
