Citrix Receiver For Mac Asking For Email Address

Citrix has released Receiver 3.3 a while ago now. But every now and then I see that people are having difficulties with installing it.

Receiver 3.3 assumes that you are working with the new way of publishing apps and desktops. When you are still using the webplugin only (for use with Web Interface) and you are not publishing apps and desktops through StoreFront/ Cloudgateway then you can run into some “issues” with installing Receiver 3.3.

Connect to StoreFront by using PNA Services. If users connect with legacy versions Receiver for Mac, Receiver for Android, or Receiver for iOS, users must manually configure a store within Receiver by using the Citrix Gateway web address. When users successfully log on, they can start their published applications and virtual desktops. Once installed, open Citrix Receiver and enter the Server or email address, followed by User Name, Password and Domain. Your IT Help Desk or system administrator provides this information. When you need to disable Workspace Control for Receiver for Mac. Workspace control can be configured in the General pane of Receiver preferences. Email address is required Please verify reCAPTCHA and press 'Submit' button. Search for an answer or post a question to members of the Citrix Discussions community. Mar 19, 2019.

The provided solution is a workaround to bypass the “Enter your work or email or server address” message at the end of the installation.

Here’s what you see during the normal installation of the Receiver 3.3 downloaded straight from the Citrix downloads website.

1. Click “Install” to start the installation of the receiver.

2. The installation begins and this progress screen is shown.

3. You are now faced with the “enter your work email or server address” question.

4. If you do not enter email address or server address and you press “Next” you will see this message

5. When you press “Cancel” you are faced with this message

You can safely exit the Receiver setup at this time but you will be seeing the “enter your work email or server address” question when you reboot your system every time. You can bypass this by renaming the Receiver.exe in the installation folder to ReceiverWeb.exe (default location is C:Program Files (x86)CitrixReceiver) but if you want to automate the installation it will be a hassle.

Aternate installations

Method 1

You can bypass the question entirely by downloading the same Receiver 3.3 version but renaming it to ReceiverWeb.exe before you start the installation. This rename is case sensitive !!!!

Now you still get the “Install” screen and the progress screen but you won’t be asked to “enter you work email or server address” question at the end. The installer ends without a “finish” screen but it installed completely.

I hope this post helped you and if you have any questions please leave a message at the end of this page and I’ll respond as soon as possible.

Complete one of the following procedures to suppress the Add Account wizard in Citrix Receiver for Windows 3.3.

Method 2

Install the CitrixReceiver.exe from the command line with the following switch /ALLOWADDSTORE=N (and other parameters if you need them).

Reset Citrix Receiver On Mac

Method 3

Changing Registry values post installation to suppress the Add Account window.

Caution! This fix requires you to edit the registry. Using Registry Editor incorrectly can cause serious problems that may require you to reinstall your operating system. Citrix cannot guarantee that problems resulting from the incorrect use of Registry Editor can be solved. Use Registry Editor at your own risk. Be sure to back up the registry before you edit it.

Under HKLMSoftwareCitrixDazzle, set AllowAddStore value to N. Restart Citrix Receiver for Windows to apply the new Registry value.

Method 4

Rename the ConfigurationWizard.exe to ConfigurationWizard.old. This is the actual executable that launches the Add Account wizard. Renaming this file prevents the application from launching it. Located under C:Program Files (x86)CitrixICA ClientReceiver.

Caution! This workaround prevents adding new stores completely as the executable responsible has been renamed. This is not recommended and might cause additional problems.

Method 5

Using regedit set the EnableFTU to “0” (zero).
HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareCitrixReceiverEnableFTU = 0

Install Receiver 3.3 by executing CitrixReceiver.exe.

Download the receiver

You can download the Receiver by going to the website http://www.citrix.com/downloads and select the Citrix Receiver from the menu. In the subsequent menu you select the “Receiver by platform”. This way you can tweak the downloaded file a little with the alternate installation mentioned above.

The “Receiver Easy Install” is a file based on a scan of your local system and for many admins not quite workable for deploment to multiple types of operating systems. So for the most complete version just select the “Receivers by platform” version.

Problem Cause

The issue is due to a defect in some builds of NetScaler where SSL handshake fails if a client hello message includes an ECC extension but the NetScaler appliance does not support any of the ECDHE ciphers in the cipher list sent by the client. The handshake fails even if the list contains some non-ECDHE ciphers that are supported.

Receiver for Windows 4.7, Receiver for Mac 12.5, Receiver for Android 3.12.2/3.12.3 and Receiver for Linux 13.6 introduce these ECDHE ciphers which trigger this defect.
